The Price of Freedom
We have been spoiled in this country with our freedoms. It cost a few a big price to purchase that freedom. Jesus paid it all for us on the cross. Galatians 5:1 says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
The Pilgrims, before coming to America, first had to throw off the persecution they suffered from England when they fled to Holland. Then the American Revolution was a heavy but noble price to pay for the freedoms we enjoy today. Besides the heavy price of lives from the Continental Army and Militias, the treasonous act of the Declaration of Independence cost many of the 56 signers their lives, families, property, homes, etc. Do a Google search on the fate of the 56 Signers.
So it cost quite a few a heavy and bitter price to purchase the freedoms we enjoy. But we are about to lose those freedoms and already have lost a lot. Why? In 1787 at the close of the Constitutional Convention, a Mrs. Powell asked Ben Franklin, who had just left Independence Hall, what form of government did they give us, and he answered back, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” What was he talking about? In Article IV Section 4 says, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion…”
He was also talking about our role in keeping it. When we went through the government schools, we learned there were three branches of government and each one checked the other two. This was the system of checks and balances. What was curiously missing was our role in the checks and balances. Ours is the most important but it has been hidden from us. No less, if we haven’t done our part, we only have ourselves to blame for the loss of our freedoms.
The Presidency has been in the control of a group of International (Central) Bankers or Elitist for about a hundred years now. We have been voting for their nominee of both parties. Tweetle Dee or Tweetle Dum, we have been putting in men from the same social club with the same agenda. This is why they don’t care which one wins, the same policies will be carried out and has been the same from Administration to Administration. This is the fallacy of the Two Party System. This is why at least a third party if not more are needed for the sake of competing against this failure and giving us real choices on the ballot.
The Senate is elected every 6 years and was appointed by their State’s Legislature. Now because of the non-ratified 17th Amendment, they are elected by popular vote. They no longer represent State’s rights, and many are controlled by the same group of Elitists. The part “…if you can keep it.” Ben Franklin was talking about is found in Article I Section 7 of the Constitution, “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives…” These House members are chosen by popular vote from the Congressional district they represent. They are elected every two years and therefore are always running for election. We are the check on the Federal Government through our member of the House of Representatives.
Every bill that becomes law had to go to the floor of the US House for a vote. But bills of revenue can only be introduced in the House. If a bill passes, the House can choose not to fund it. So we, through our own individual Representatives (Congressmen) can control the whole Federal Government through our actions. Or we can forfeit that control through our silence and hope for the best. This is how we have lost control, by not being informed and involved with holding our own Reps accountable. The media would have us focused on the Presidency and, at that, only certain members of the Two Parties. Forget Ron Paul ever being given a fair shake as the media is owned by the same Elite thugs who control the Executive Branch. We will never know from them that Ron Paul won most of those straw votes and debates.
So the cost of maintaining our Freedoms cannot be accomplished sitting in our easy chairs every night working that remote control. The vast majority are doing this and consider themselves informed because they watch the evening news. They will wake up in a year or two to living in a North American Union with no rights and will most likely find themselves out of a home. We have allowed that yoke of bondage to come upon us.
If we don’t wake up and take back our Christian Heritage we have lost, what will we have left our Children? I think it is arrogant and rude for people my age (I’m 52) to enjoy the freedoms we have all our lives but because of our inaction have left our children with a heritage of slavery at the hands of a tyrannical government who dispises our God. We all have some blame if we cannot as individuals say, “I saw what to do and did all I could do.” Is saying, “I’m sorry” going to be good enough when we watch our children go off into slavery?
Host a Tea Party and Ignite some fires that will help get our Christian Heritage back.
